Joy School - May

This week was our last time meeting together for class.
We invited other neighborhood preschoolers to join our class.
Our class was held outside.
It was a very special occasion due to a very special topic: FIRE SAFETY.
Two local fire fighters came to our neighborhood with their awesome fire truck.

One of the fire fighters taught the kids all about fire safety while the other fire fighter demonstrated things.
Some of the kids were afraid of the fire fighter all dressed up in his fire resistant attire.

Did you know... that studies have proven that most kids sleep so deeply at night that if a fire alarm went off in their homes, kids tend to wake up for a second, but go right back to sleep because they don't recognize the alarm's sound of danger?!  Kids are more groggy if woken up in the middle of the night.  We are encouraged to practice fire safety with our kids late at night so that our kids will know what to expect if a fire should occur.  Kids should know how to stop, drop, and roll.  They should know what a fire fighter looks like and that they should never hide from them because they are there to help you.  And kids should know how to escape their house and were to meet up with their family if their house is on fire.  Teach your kids their address and how to dial 911 for emergencies.
Fire Safety is COOL!
