Moose On The Loose 2013

On December 1st, Santa snuck over to our house and left a special delivery in our mailbox.  When Sam and the boys were taking out the garbage, they discovered the special delivery… Mortimer the Moose was back for the third year in a row!  The kids were thrilled!

Here's the note Santa included with Mortimer:

Dear Brian, Tyler, Katie, and Julia-

This is SANTA CLAUS here with a special treat for you!

Are you ready for some holiday fun?  Do you enjoy playing hide-n-seek?  Then you'll love this new game I'm going to play with you.

OPEN THE GIFT.

The game is called "Moose on the Loose."  Mortimer the Moose told me that he wanted to meet all four of you kids.  So I agreed to send him to your house for the month of December for a nice long visit.

So this is how the game works.  Every night before you go to bed, you put Mortimer on your Christmas shelf.  And during the night, one of my elves will sneak in you house and hide Mortimer.  When you wake up in the morning, it is your job to find Mortimer and return him to his spot on the Christmas shelf.

Does that sound like a fun game?  Beware that Mortimer can be mischievous at times.  He will probably hide in unlikely places.

Have fun, Brian, Tyler, Katie, and Julia.  Be good kids and I'll be sure to stop by your house on Christmas Eve with some special gifts for you.

Love, SANTA
Mortimer built marshmallow snowmen.
He also left a special note on the bathroom mirror.

We play ice cream shop at our house. The kids come through the back door to the kitchen and I say, "Welcome to Lisa's Ice Cream Shop." Then the kids give their orders and tell me if they'd like me to add sprinkles. Then they pretend to pay me.#makingmemories #weallscreamforicecream

Moose on the Loose - Year 2

Mortimer the Moose came back to visit us in December.  When Mortimer first arrived, he brought a paper chain that he made to help us count down the days until Christmas.  Here are the letter Santa sent with Mortimer:

So every morning, the kids would wake up and go search for Mortimer.  That darn moose was more mischievous than last year.  The kids got a good kick out of Mortimer's antics.

AWHC Fall Festival & Pumpkin Walk

Every October, there are two events that we always attend... the Fall Festival at the American West Heritage Center and The Pumpkin Walk.
Yesterday, we decided to make it our family fun day.  First stop was the Fall Festival.
Sam was the perfect Corn Maze navigator.
We didn't get lost at all!  Great job, Sam!  (These are all iPhone photos).

All of us claimed that the Giant Slide was our favorite activity there.
We rode the train twice, went through a dark hay maze, and launched some gourds ate a giant pumpkin.
The boys LOVED taking the apple stems off, washing the apples, and help to make some apple cider.
I got a little nervous seeing all the bees flying around the apple press machine.
We all came away without any bee stings... whew!
Next up was The Pumpkin Walk.  This year's theme was games.

The Hunger Games
Katniss & Peeta

Strolling home in the sunset... a perfect end to a perfect family fun day!
