Hey Elder Hallstrom (or am I allowed to call you just Mark?)-
Thanks for the emails and the pictures. It's fun to "see" you as a missionary. I bet you're excited for the two baptisms coming up in September. That's awesome! Will you be baptizing either of the men? Just curious. Also, I want to hear more about your apartment. It be fun to see pictures of where you live (the outside of the building and the inside too.) Sam just went on splits with the missionaries last night. He was gone for over 3 hours! He said it was a good experience. The Elder that Sam went with sang in our sacrament meeting yesterday. That Elder sure had a great voice.
Brian started 1st grade last week! He's in a new school this year and his teacher seems really nice. Brian has been bringing home school work for us to see (handwriting samples and coloring- he finally colors in the lines... haha :) Oh and of course he has homework everyday. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a silly ceramic bowl that's shaped like a bat. The bowl part is painted black for the bat's body and there's googly eyes and wings attached to it. It sounds weird I bet, but believe me, it's a cool bowl. Anyway, I dubbed that bowl, THE AFTER SCHOOL SNACK bowl. Whenever Brian gets home from school, he gets to look in the bowl and see what's for snack. Today it was popcorn. Yahoo!
Tyler is STILL potty training. We started a POTTY GAME. I drew a Candy Land type game board on a piece of paper and put it in a sheet protector. Then I have Tyler move the sticker 1 space on the game trail every time he goes in the potty. If he has an accident, I make him move the sticker 1 space back. When his sticker gets to the finish, he gets a reward... a KING size candy bar. Let's hope this game works! Tyler will be 4 years old in December and gosh darn it, that boy better be potty trained! In October, we're going to start Joy School (preschool) with some neighborhood kids. The moms take turns teaching at their house. I just created and delivered the teaching schedule last week.
Katie is 15 months old now. She's getting better at walking, although she's still quite timid about it. After a couple steps, like 4 or 5, she's down on the ground and crawling. Crawling is definitely her fastest mode of transportation now. She'll be a pro at walking by Christmas, for sure. Last week, Katie got her first haircut. My friend across the street cut her hair...well trimmed it. Katie will enter nursery at the end of November and hopefully she won't be such a momma's girl as she is now.
And as for me, I have some news! I am a WINNER of a PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST! I'll have to explain it in more detail when I have some more time. I got a really sweet PRIZE! Brian is insisting that I go watch him do his homework!
We love hearing from you! Glad to hear you're doing well. How's your Spanish? Are you a fluent Spanish speaker yet?
Love, LISA :)
