Joy School - March

I taught the kids about the letter R, the number 19, black, and circles.  First I had the kids sit on a black blanket and watch a few minutes of the movie, "Meet the Robinsons."  The kids were paying close attention looking for circles, and robots.  I was in the neighboring room prepping black circles for our next activity as they watched.  It was cute to hear the kids say, "There's a circle!  And there's a robot!  Robot starts with R!"

The kids took turns finding the objects on pages of the "I Spy" book.  Then I handed the kids their own black "I Spy" tool before going on a circle hunt.

I took the kids into the "circle room" and had the kids look through their "I Spy" tools and hunt for circles.  The first stop was the black circle/polka dot bed.  The kids counted the 19 black polka dots.  Next they discovered the 19 toy cars under the desk, and the 19 marbles on top of the desk.  They did a great job counting to 19.  I brought out an old cardboard wrapping paper tube and a bowl and had the kids drop their marble through the tube.  They laughed and thought it was fun to hear the marbles roll and make a "ding" sound when the marbles would land in the bowl.
