The door looks great. I want to paint my door sometime soon, so I'm looking for pointers. What type of paint did you use? Did you take off the doorknob and lock or just paint around them? Did you take the door off the hinges or just leave it on? If so, how did you position the door in order to let it dry? Please help! Thanks.
I love the red door, it does pop perfectly and goes so well with Fall! I am curious as to how you did that too, I would have never thoguht of painting a door, but I love the idea.
Lauren and Jenny- We used Behr Premium Plus Ultra Paint + Primer in One. The exterior satin enamel finish is ideal and our red paint was Deep Base No. 5893. Sam didn't remove the hardware and did not remove the door off the hinges. He just picked a nice warm day to paint and left the front door opened while it dried. It took 3 coats of paint for it to look good. He used small paint rollers on the last coat of paint for a smooth finish. Good luck!
