1. Friends. My grandma and my second cousin, Angela live in the same town as I do. When I moved here about a year ago, I was hoping to make friends just as quickly as I did in my old apartment complex. It took a little longer than I anticipated (partly because I got called to teach Primary). I finally made some good friends here. And of course, now that I'm finally feeling comfortable and feel like I know a good amount of people in our ward, our family has to up and move. Thank goodness we're only moving about 5 miles away. It's always nice to find a friend that you can exchange babysitting with free of charge. This same friend also invited me to attend her Book Club last night. It was tons of fun and I met lots of new people.
2. Brian's Preschool. The preschool Brian attends is wonderful. I can tell that Brian's teacher and speech therapist really care about him. They are doing an excellent job helping Brian to progress. Also I'm so glad that they make their class so fun that Brian wants to go to "school" everyday. Tuesday and Thursday mornings are definitely Brian's favorite days of the week. They are my favorite days too because I seem to get the most accomplished on these days, and let's face it, a break from my energy-packed 4 year old is great too.
3. Our Realtor. I feel lucky to have stumbled across a fabulous real estate website. The site is very user friendly. After finding some homes we were interested in, I called up this realtor (who created the webiste) and scheduled some home viewings. Our realtor has worked with our crazy schedule and is very honest.
4. Sacrifice. We have been taught to sacrifice. I feel that we are making sacrifices in order to buy our first house. We are lowering our bills as much as possible but still living comfortably. Don't worry, we're still eating just fine. So far, we have switched to the most basic Dish Network package and we have gotten rid of our cell phone. Right now, we are trying to find a good inexpensive way to make long distance phone calls from our home phone. Any suggestions?

We make our long distance calls using a calling card we bought at Costco. It costs us 2.5 cents per minute.
The cheapest way to make a long distance phone call is usually through the Internet. There's Skype, Vonage, or Magic Jack. We have used all three. Vonage is probably the most reliable, but also the most expensive. We just did a quick cost comparison and actually your friends calling card from Costco might be cheaper depending on how much you pay for your land line. With a calling card you have to count in not only the minutes, but what you pay for the phone as well. With any of the Internet options you can eliminate the cost of a land line, though you can't make phone calls if you lose power. (I bet one of your neighbors has a cell phone you can use if you need one during a power out!) The Magic Jack is finicky, but it's worth it to us for the price ($20 a year plus $20 for the device). Let us know if you need more specific information on any of these options!
