Counting

Brian loves going to preschool. He has preschool on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Every morning, without fail, my bedroom door flies open and Brian runs in. The first words out of his mouth are, "Morning! School?!" He gets really excited if he has "school." The bus picks him up about 8:10AM, just 10 minutes into his favorite tv show, Curious George. I get him dressed and out the door in less than 5 minutes.

Earlier this week, I had a Parent Teacher Conference for Brian. He has improved alot since the fall and is closer in reaching the educational goals they've set for him. As they showed me papers of his progress, I was very surprised at one unreached goal...number recognition and counting. I told the teacher that Brian can recognize some numbers. He points out some numbers and tells me what they are. And I know that he can count a little bit. So, they said that they'll be working on numbers with Brian.

Anyway, the next day, Brian hopped off the bus and started playing at the playground right outside our apartment. He was going up and down the slide. Then he ran up the hill and starting bringing batches of small rocks to the top step by the red tunnel slide. Brian lined up the rocks, making the rocks form a letter "T." He pointed to the rocks, said "T," and then proceeded to COUNT the rocks. "1,2,3,4,8." I said, "Whoops! That "8" should be a "5." So, I began counting with Brian. With my help, I got Brian to count all the rocks. There were 30 rocks! I was so proud of Brian! We'll still have to practice counting alot more, but it was a fun moment for me to have with my boy.

Hey! Where's the pictures of the new house? :) And I have a fun activity day idea for you. The girls in our ward threw a "princess party" for the sunbeam and CTR 5 girls. The little girls wore their princess dresses and the big girls painted their nails, made crowns, took their pictures, etc. My little Kate LOVEE it and I thought it was a darling activity idea.
